works completed daily over a period of seven weeks using images from two newspapers each day (the japan times and the daily yomiuri)

each successive week additional media were added, as follows:
week 1: only photos from each day's newspapers
week 2: any part (excluding text) of each day's newspaper (e.g., borders, graphic elements, blank space)
week 3: each day's newspaper plus drawing (initially pencil, then colored pencils, then pastels, etc.)
week 4: each day's newspapers plus polaroid polaroids taken on the day
week 5: each day's newspapers plus color photocopies
week 6: each day's newspapers plus oil paint
week 7: any combination of materials used in the preceding weeks

some art by keiko miyamori appears in the black and white polaroids in "fuji pyramid exhibition" (top right, above). we have never collaborated together, but she has been inspirational to me.

chiaki sasahara and natsu takahashi joined me during the final week. we would meet in the morning, go through the newspapers selecting images together, and take some polaroids (they are visible in the lower right picture above); following that i would put together a collage-painting, usually making some color photocopies at the convenience store on the way home. we also used "print club" photo stickers at least one day.
