project description |
|
i believe in collaboration, in unpredictability, in risk. my overarching goal as an artist is to expand our experience of visual art through collaboration and utilizing technology.
i believe that traffic cones are almost art. like paintings, their primary function is to be looked at. the goal of how to enjoy traffic cones is to encourage all of us to engage in the aesthetic practice of traffic cone viewing. i believe in imagination, in conversations between muses, in helping each other explore territory we never would have encountered without the influence of other creative minds. you are invited to figure out what sort of new media art we might want to make together, in collaboration. potential outcomes for this project could include: a map of cones in both time and space (for example, a google map has pins which show pictures of cones, and each location allows you to scroll forward and backward through time to see photographs of the same cones on separate occasions); cone tagging with rfid tags (so that their movements can be tracked); outdoor projection of video footage from traffic cone walking tours projected onto orange fabric or orange chalk; voting on a website for cones side-by-side (like "hot or not" but for cones) to help find the most spectacular traffic cones; a cone factory and modification workshop in second life. |
